The Controversy: India’s Got Latent Incident
Ranveer Allahbadia faced criticism after an episode of India’s Got Latent, where he made an inappropriate comment to a contestant. Though panelists Apoorva Mukhija and Ashish Chanchlani laughed it off, the remark sparked significant backlash online, resulting in multiple FIRs against Ranveer and the show’s makers.

The situation grew more serious when the National Commission for Women (NCW) got involved, and Ranveer was asked to apologize in writing. The Supreme Court later gave him temporary protection from arrest but criticized his comments as “vulgar” and said he had a “dirty mind” that embarrassed society.
In an apology video posted on X (formerly Twitter), Ranveer admitted, “My comment was not only inappropriate but also not funny. I apologise to everyone I’ve hurt.”
