I’m A Celebrity stars aren’t technically in ‘jungle’ as camp’s location revealed

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! is nearly over, and has delivered all the drama we’ve come to expect, but there’s another twist to the tale.

After 12 years on air, fans think they know everything about the ITV reality series, but something about the iconic jungle setting might actually surprise you.

It turns out Danny Jones, Coleen Rooney, and Reverend Richard Coles, also known as this year’s finalists, aren’t actually in a jungle after all.

Ever since the show’s second series in 2003, filming has taken place in New South Wales (besides the North Wales pandemic years) at Springbrook National Park, near the Queensland border.

The area is actually part of part of the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia World Heritage Area – that might seem a bit picky, but there we go!

To spot the now not-so-secret location on Google Maps, you can search in the coordinates: ‘-28.25605,153.34984,’ zoom in and scroll a little further down to see the filming site.

According to reports, the site used to be called ‘I’m A Celebrity studio,’ but now the name has disappeared, perhaps in a ploy to keep the location under wraps.

It’s not the only little-known I’m A Celebrity trivia either – it’s been reported in the past that the camp even has a roof.

No, the campmates aren’t getting full shelter, but there is some cover from torrential rain in the form of a retractable 50-foot-high canopy.

‘A lot of the camp is not under shelter ― it’s not like the roof at Wimbledon,’ a source told the MailOnline back in 2022, so that’s something.

A bit less surprising is that the legendary waterfall shower has been created by producers to give the celebrities somewhere to keep clean with the cameras on.

Writing for the Mail in the past, former campmate Lauren Booth revealed it’s fake, quipping: ‘The waterfall, like the pool beneath it, was not part of the jungle at all, but a man-made creation.

‘Unless, of course, “real” rainforest waterfalls get turned off between three and six every afternoon.’

She also revealed the rocks dotted around camp weren’t legit either, which the late David Gest noticed when he took a closer look and some of the scenery.

‘It was David Gest who first spotted that they seemed to be hollow and made of papier mache,’ she added, noting that there was a practical reason for them being there.

‘They occasionally cough, too. And yawn distractedly just when you think you’re reaching the climax of a long anecdote,’ she teased.

‘The camp may be festooned with hidden microphones and technical wizardry, but cameramen are still needed for some shots – and they need somewhere to hide.’
